Bugatti having problems selling the last remaining 40 Veyrons

Bugatti Veyron Unsold Units

Even though it’s probably one of the most famous cars in the world right now and one of the greatest machines ever built, it looks like the Bugatti Veyron lost its appeal among those rich enough to afford it and the Volkswagen-owned French carmaker is having difficulties in finding customers for the last units of the million-dollar supercar. According to an inside source, Bugatti has around 40 units in stock and no one is rushing in to buy them. Judging by how much a Veyron costs these days, that means that Volkswagen is sitting right now on $80 million (a little over 60 million Euros) of unsold Veyrons, which we bet is making someone very unhappy over there in Wolfsburg.

To get rid of these unsold units, Bugatti organized the Dynamic Drive Experience in the United States, an event which gathers 20 or 25 potential Veyron Grand Sport customers each weekend and offers them the chance to test drive the car both on the street and on a rented airport track. This way, Volkswagen estimates will manage to sell the remaining units in the next 12 months.

The Bugatti Veyron was launched in 2006 and revolutionized the way people saw supercars. It was the fastest production car at the time and today is still one of the most impressive pieces of engineering ever built. And the price is one to match, being one of the few new cars that sold for more than $1 million. But that was nothing for the world’s richest, because the car sold extremely well and even though Volkswagen’s initial plans were to sell 300 units, there was a total of 450 units, including the 40 unsold units.
