The South Korean carmaker is preparing a new generation for their current flagship SUV, the Kia Sorento, which is scheduled to get its market launch sometime next year. Until then, we just got hold of the first sketches previewing the Asian SUV’s design and we can see an even more sportier silhouette and a new grille following the “Tiger Nose” philosophy created by Peter Schreyer, former design director and current Chief Design Officer.
Also, it’s safe to say the new generation will probably be more aggressive, judging by the pointy headlights, the large air intakes in the front bumper and the rear diffuser. Tail lights will probably get larger and variations of the current sporty alloy wheels will also be available. There are no details so far about the engine range, but Kia will probably focus on improving the current lineup, the 2.0-liter petrol engine, the 2.2-liter diesel and the 3.3-liter V6 GDI that is only available in North America.
The new generation’s official debut is expected to take place this September in South Korea, but the first public appearance will happen two months later, at the 2014 Los Angeles Auto Show.
