Despite the British carmaker announcing September 8 as the official launch date for the new Jaguar XE, it looks like they’ve decided to reveal the new car earlier. Actually, it’s not a full reveal, just a photo with the car’s front part, but this definitely reveals more than we’ve seen in the teasers released so far. What’s also interesting is that unlike other presentations, the image shows the performance version of the sedan, called Jaguar XE S.
The images reveal a red version of the XE, whose styling is heavily based on Jaguar’s current design language seen on the XE’s bigger brothers, the XF and the XJ. However, the XE’s headlights have a slightly different position and are almost connected to the large chromed front grille. The grille’s honeycomb design plus the large air vents and the hood’s dents and sharp angles create a very aggressive look for the upcoming luxury sedan and, to be honest, make it sound like one of this fall’s most interesting premieres.
The sporty Jaguar XE S is expected to be powered by the 3.0-liter V6 engine that’s already available on the F-Type S, the turbocharged unit producing 340 or 380-hp, depending on the version. According to the British carmaker, a high-performance Jaguar XER-S will be available in 2016, powered by a turbocharged 5.0-liter V8 that will produce over 500-hp and will compete against the Germans: BMW M3, Audi RS4 and Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG.
By publishing these images, the British brand starts a launch campaign called “Feel XE”, which includes partnerships with several famous artists such as Emeli Sandé, Stella McCartney and actor Idris Elba. Emeli Sandé is actually going to perform at the official launch event and the three will probably also be XE ambassadors once the model goes on sale.
