During a recent event that promoted the Chevrolet Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix, GM’s Executive Vice President of Global Product Development, Mark Reuss, confirmed that the next generation Chevrolet Corvette is already in development. Unfortunately, he did not talk too much about this subject, as he was actually commenting on a study revealing morale of global GM employees and also said a few words about the recent recall scandal, where GM is blamed for at least 40 crashes that resulted in 13 lives lost.

The only other thing Reuss said about the next generation Corvette is that we could also see a hybrid or an electric version. The GM executive didn’t actually confirm any of these versions, but didn’t rule out any of them. For Chevrolet it would make sense to develop at least a hybrid Corvette, since many sports car manufacturers are revealing hybrid versions, including Porsche or McLaren, not to mention the all-electric BMW i8 which is on everyone’s lips these days.
