Only a week after unveiling the five-door version of the Mini, the British carmaker has just announced a new engine that will soon be available for the Mini, only in Europe. According to MINI, the new model will be called Mini Cooper SD and it will be the fastest Mini in the company’s history.

As we were already anticipating, the engine powering the Mini Cooper SD is a TwinPower Turbo 2.0-liter four-cylinder unit that produces 170-hp and 265 lb-ft of torque (360 Nm). These figures translate into a 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) acceleration of 7.2 seconds for the version equipped with the six-speed Steptronic automatic transmission. Also, according to the official specs, the car will get a fuel economy of 68.9 UK mpg (4.1 liters per 100 km), while CO2 emissions are rated at 110 grams per km.

The new Mini Cooper SD will be available in Europe starting with July, debuting at the same time as the Mini One First, a new entry-level version of the three-door Mini. The Mini One First is powered by a 1.2-liter TwinPower Turbo engine that produces 75-hp and 110 lb-ft pf torque (150 Nm) available at 1,400 rpm. The car accelerates from 0 to 62 mph in 12.8 seconds, gets 5.1 liters per 100 km (55 UK mpg) and produces 122 grams of CO2 per kilometer.
