Peugeot Exalt Concept Leaked

The Chinese market is extremely important for Peugeot and this is one of the reasons they’re preparing a major debut for the upcoming 2014 Beijing Motor Show, which is scheduled to open its gates next week, only three days after the other important auto event of the month, the New York Auto Show. The premiere we’re talking about is the Peugeot Exalt concept, a successor of the famous Onyx concept that was unveiled two years ago in Paris.

The prototype represents a four-door coupe with an extremely aggressive styling. The front part introduces a new shape for the front grille and different styling for the headlights too, while the triangular air intakes also contribute to the sporty look. Peugeot describes Exalt’s exterior as an interesting association between crude steel and a new material called Shark Skin, inspired by, guess what…sharks’ skin. Right now, we don’t know whether these new design elements will find their way to production in the future, but we’ll probably find out next week, when the Beijing show starts.

As for the powertrain, the Peugeot Exalt concept is powered by an upgraded version of the carmaker’s Hybrid4 powertrain, which now produces around 335-340 hp. Unfortunately, that’s all the details we have so far, but expect a full reveal once the concept makes its debut.
