The French carmaker is once again the official partner of the Cannes Film Festival, a tradition which is going on for 31 years already, and this year’s edition will see an impressive fleet of vehicles brought by Renault. One of the highlights are the four mysterious concept cars based on the Renault Twingo which will be placed near the red carpet on the steps of Palais du Festival. That’s about all we know so far about these cars, because Renault seems to keep other details secret.

But that’s just the tip of the iceberg, because Renault, as official partner, will bring a fleet of 210 vehicles that will accompany guests and the public throughout the festival. There will be 140 Renault Espaces and 70 Latitudes available for some of the biggest stars in cinematography, 107 of which will also feature 4G routers that will allow guests to stay online all the time. Besides these vehicles which are meant for celebrities, 15 Twizy electric cars will be available to the public to drive around the La Croisette beaches.

After 30 years of sponsoring the Cannes festival, Renault also took their involvement in cinematography a step further and will present a 12-minute film at this year’s edition of the festival (its 67th). The short movie was made to celebrate 100 years since Charlie Chaplin’s famous character “Charlot” was born and was filmed with Dolores and Carmen, the actor’s granddaughters. Some parts were filmed at the Renault Technocentre near Paris and feature the Twin’z concept which previewed the current Twingo.
