Opel/Vauxhall Corsa Prototype

The German carmaker has just posted a video teaser of the upcoming Opel/Vauxhall Corsa on their official YouTube account and even though the car is wearing some heavy camouflage, we’re actually pretty excited to see the little guy in action. Despite several updates being performed in 2010 and 2011, the current generation Corsa has been on the market since 2006. And 8 years, in today’s automotive industry is a lot, that’s why the new generation is highly anticipated, with its official debut scheduled for the this autumn, at the 2014 Paris Motor Show.

From the video released by Opel, we can see the Corsa’s silhouette, quite similar to the current generation’s, while the front part follows the carmaker’s current design language which can be seen on the facelifted Insignia, the Astra or the Cascada. It’s still unclear whether the new Corsa will be an entirely new model or a major facelift as Opel is not too generous when it comes to details about the car.

In a recent interview for Autocar, Opel’s Michael Harder, the chassis development manager, revealed that the car will be built on a revised version of the current platform, also suggesting that the car will carry on the cabin architecture and packaging. The Autocar journalists had the opportunity to drive the prototypes and weren’t too thrilled with Opel’s 100-hp 1.4-liter engine, but pointed out some improvements, especially when it comes to the car’s suspension and ride.
